GTA 6 Cheat Codes — What to Expect (And When)

Cheat codes have been a GTA tradition since the original, but Rockstar hasn't said anything about cheats in GTA 6. Here's what we expect the cheat system to look like, when codes might appear, and how the launch-day catalog will be verified.

Status: speculation. Rockstar hasn't announced anything about cheat codes for GTA 6. Every previous mainline GTA has had cheats — typically a mix of phone-based entry and code sequences accessible from the start. We expect GTA 6 to follow the same pattern, but Rockstar has not described the system, has not published any codes, and has not committed to a launch-day cheat menu. This guide collects what's likely based on franchise history. It will be replaced with a verified cheat code list within 24 hours of GTA 6's November 19, 2026 launch.

How Cheats Probably Work in GTA 6 (Speculation)

Phone-based system expected. Rockstar has used the in-game phone as the cheat code entry system since GTA IV. Enter the right combination of numbers and symbols and the effect triggers immediately. The phone is your cheat code interface.

How it might differ from GTA V: GTA V had no selectable cheat menu — you entered cheats as controller button combinations or by dialing numbers on the in-game phone. If Rockstar keeps the phone/number-entry approach from GTA IV and GTA V, GTA VI cheats will feel familiar to anyone who used those systems.

When Cheat Codes Are Added

Rockstar has historically added cheat codes in one of two ways:

1. At launch — or very close to it. GTA V's cheats worked from day one (September 2013), entered as button combinations or dialed on the in-game phone — covering weapon spawns, health/armor restores, wanted-level changes, and weather effects.

2. Via updates — post-launch. In some titles, Rockstar has added cheat codes after the initial launch as part of a content update. RDR2 added its cheat system in stages.

For GTA VI, the pattern likely follows GTA V: cheats usable within the first few hours of gameplay (via the phone or button inputs), or added in the first major content update.

Cheats We Expect (Pattern-Based, Not Sourced)

Based on the GTA V cheat roster and historical patterns:

Weapon Cheats

  • Spawn assault rifle
  • Spawn pistol (upgraded)
  • Spawn shotgun
  • Spawn sniper rifle
  • Spawn rocket launcher
  • Max ammo — all weapons

Wanted Level Cheats

  • Clear wanted level
  • Raise wanted level to 5 stars instantly
  • Decrease wanted level

Player Cheats

  • Full health and armor restore
  • Recharge stamina
  • Drunk mode (causes visual effects and change in character movement)

World Cheats

  • Change weather instantly (sunny, rainy, foggy)
  • Change time of day
  • Slow motion effect (combat focus)

Vehicle Cheats

  • Spawn specific vehicle classes
  • Spawn Sanchez (motorcycle)
  • Spawn Rhino (tank — historically mission-locked)

How to Use Cheat Codes

Speculative procedure based on the GTA V pattern:

  1. Open the phone — tap the phone button (default: touchpad on PS5, View button on Xbox)
  2. Dial the cheat number — or, on console, enter the button combination during gameplay
  3. Enter the full sequence — as listed for each cheat
  4. Confirm — the cheat activates immediately with a brief on-screen confirmation

Note: Using cheat codes in GTA VI may affect your ability to earn achievements / trophies for that session. Rockstar has historically flagged save files that used cheats for the session. Plan accordingly if you're going for 100% completion.

Cheat Code Format

GTA cheat codes have historically taken two forms:

  • Controller button combinations entered during gameplay (the console standard since GTA III)
  • Phone-number sequences dialed on the in-game phone (introduced in GTA IV — e.g., GTA V's 1-999-887-853 for health and armor)

The specific sequences for GTA VI will be confirmed at launch or when Rockstar publishes the cheat menu.

Cheat codes will be fully documented here on launch day — every confirmed code, every effect, and every achievement implication. Bookmark viceheist.com/guides and subscribe to the RSS feed for the full cheat sheet when it drops.
