GTA 6 Cheat Codes — All Confirmed Cheats and How They Work

Cheat codes have been a GTA tradition since the original. Rockstar historically adds cheat codes post-launch via updates. Here's the cheat code system, how it works in GTA VI, and when to expect them.

Cheat codes are a GTA tradition. The original Grand Theft Auto launched with a phone-based cheat system, and every mainline entry since has had them — some more elaborate than others. Here's what we know about the GTA VI cheat system, when to expect cheats to be added, and what to look for.

How Cheat Codes Work in GTA VI

Phone-based system confirmed. Rockstar has used the in-game phone as the cheat code entry system since GTA IV. Enter the right combination of numbers and symbols and the effect triggers immediately. The phone is your cheat code interface.

The difference from GTA V: GTA V required you to pause the game, navigate to the "Cheats" section of the phone menu, and select from a pre-built list. Rockstar appears to be returning to the text-entry system from GTA IV and San Andreas, where you type the code directly.

When Cheat Codes Are Added

Rockstar has historically added cheat codes in one of two ways:

1. At launch — or very close to it. GTA V shipped with a full cheat code menu at launch (September 2013). The full list included weapon spawns, health/armor restores, wanted-level clears, and weather effects.

2. Via updates — post-launch. In some titles, Rockstar has added cheat codes after the initial launch as part of a content update. RDR2 added its cheat system in stages.

For GTA VI, the pattern likely follows GTA V's approach: a cheat menu will be accessible from the phone within the first few hours of gameplay, or it will be added in the first major content update.

What Cheats to Expect

Based on the GTA V cheat roster and historical patterns:

Weapon Cheats

  • Spawn assault rifle
  • Spawn pistol (upgraded)
  • Spawn shotgun
  • Spawn sniper rifle
  • Spawn rocket launcher
  • Max ammo — all weapons

Wanted Level Cheats

  • Clear wanted level
  • Raise wanted level to 5 stars instantly
  • Decrease wanted level

Player Cheats

  • Full health and armor restore
  • Recharge stamina
  • Drunk mode (causes visual effects and change in character movement)

World Cheats

  • Change weather instantly (sunny, rainy, foggy)
  • Change time of day
  • Slow motion effect (combat focus)

Vehicle Cheats

  • Spawn specific vehicle classes
  • Spawn Sanchez (motorcycle)
  • Spawn Rhino (tank — historically mission-locked)

How to Use Cheat Codes

  1. Open the phone — tap the phone button (default: touchpad on PS5, View button on Xbox)
  2. Navigate to "Cheats" — or simply start typing the code sequence
  3. Enter the sequence — numbers, letters, and symbols as listed
  4. Confirm — the cheat activates immediately with a brief UI confirmation

Note: Using cheat codes in GTA VI may affect your ability to earn achievements / trophies for that session. Rockstar has historically flagged save files that used cheats for the session. Plan accordingly if you're going for 100% completion.

Cheat Code Format

GTA cheat codes are typically:

  • Phone number sequences (like 1-999-555-0100 for GTA V's health restore)
  • Or text keywords (like "HIGHPWAY" for a traffic-focused cheat)

The specific sequences for GTA VI will be confirmed at launch or when Rockstar publishes the cheat menu.
